Resisting AI?

How Society Resists Technology

The Ballpoint Pen (1940s–1950s)

“Fountain pens are proper tools. Ballpoints will ruin penmanship!”

The Calculator (1970s–1980s)

“If they use calculators, they’ll never learn to do math in their heads.”

The Computer (1980s–1990s)

“Kids will just play games instead of learning anything useful.”

The Internet (1990s–2000s)

“Students will plagiarize everything. They’ll never use books again.”

AI is here to stay and is growing exponentially like no other tech has. There’s no stopping it and resisting or ignoring it is foolish. It is important to use it wisely because of its amazing benefits, while also understanding the potential for deception.

Yes I have concerns about the latter. It is already being abused. We must be careful to not believe everything we see online, especially in this political climate. if the fakes are indiscernible from the real, how will you know how to vet them?

If you haven’t seen what AI video is doing, you should watch this…

Q. When the fakes are indiscernible from the real, how will you know how to vet them?
A. It requires learning about it. And the bonus is you will then be able to harness the power of it, like computers over pencils.
